Abstract
Theodore de Bry's rare and most uncommon map of China was published in part XII of his "Petits Voyages" in 1628, apparently based on Chinese sources. The words in the title are divided by Chinese characters. The map includes vignettes that depict Matteo Ricci and two costumed figures of a Chinese man and woman. The map is copied from one that appeared in Samuel Purchas' "Purchas his Pilgrimes" published in London in 1625.
