Abstract
A large-scale map of Asia on two sheets. Note the strange outline given to the regions to the north of Japan. Its detailed insets show important rivers, harbors, and trading posts. In the upper right are "The Ice Sea" (Arctic Ocean), Chusan (Zhoushan), and Amoy (xiamen). On the left are the "Hellespont" (showing the Dardanelles in today's Turkey), "The Gulf of Smirna" (The Gulf of Izmir, also in Turkey), Bombay (Mumbai, in India) and "Hugly R." (the river today known as the Hooghly or Hugli, so important for Calcutta's port).
