Abstract
Shows the settlement of Fort Zeelandia around 1631-1632, some 6-8 years after the first arrival of the Dutch in Taiwan and after the establishement of the fort on the West coast, close to present day An-pʻing. The four bastions of the fort are clearly visible to the right, each bastion surmounted by a tower and with a wooden outer stockade to the fortifications, the stone outer ramparts not being completed until 1633.
