Abstract
The present work is concerned with the dendrite growth of a single needle crystal with arbitrary undercooling temperature. We investigate the effect of convection motion induced by a periodic external flow in a melt. By assuming the Prandtl number Pr is large (equivalently, the Reynolds number is small), we can obtain a globally valid asymptotic solution in the whole physical domain for the case of zero surface tension.
