The special class of machine scheduling problem in Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) manufacturing is abstracted from a critical process in the LCD manufacturing industry. This problem is first discussed in an earlier paper. In this thesis, we formulate the problem as an assignment problem and break down the problem into several special cases. We show that we can solve the problem optimally in polynomial time in all cases except one. We also obtain an absolute error bound for the problem which is an improved error bound over the existing one.
