Abstract
A rare and striking large-scale German navigational chart of the mouth of the Pearl River, it focuses on the region around Macao and Hong Kong. A detailed inset shows Bias Bay (now known as Daya Bay). Hong Kong is well detailed and named. Tai Tam Bay, Kowloon, and Lei Yue Mun are identified. Lantau Island and Lamma Island are also well detailed. The top left of the engraving is a detailed plan of Macao, surrounded by smaller engravings of Tiger Island, the Boca Tigris, and a profile of Macao. The famous view of Luis de Cameons' Grotto has detailed annotations and description.
