The Chinese worship developed and integrated quickly during the period from Eastern Zhou to Western Han. It showed marked characteristics of the epoch and the areas during the Eastern Zhou period. In Western Han dynasty, during a unified empire was founded, the Chinese worship in different areas interacted and developed. The Chinese worship in Chu area was especially prominent.
This thesis aims to analyze the T'aiyi worship and the Earth worship from Eastern Zhou to Western Han. It combines traditional literatures and unearthed literatures with cultural relics to explore the characteristics and development.
The thesis includes 2 chapters.
The first chapter examines the various values the status of T'aiyi in Eastern Zhou. Then the characteristics of T'aiyi worship in Western Han are discussed and compared with it's characteristics in Eastern Zhou.
The second chapter analyzes the Earth worship in Chu Area from Eastern Zhou to Western Han. The values of several Earth gods are distinguished. And their developments from Eastern Zhou to Western Han have also been investigated.
I hope that this thesis will make a contribution to the study of the worship in Chu Area.
