Abstract
Iodine molecules were diffused into AlPO
4-11 (AEL) single crystal (an array of opened one-dimensional channels). The inner diameter of the channel is around 4.3x6.5Å. Because of the space confinement of the elliptical channels, iodine molecules can only align along two directions, parallel and perpendicular to the major axis of the elliptical channels. The structure of the iodine molecules inside the channels is studied by polarized Raman spectroscopy and polarized optical absorption spectroscopy. As the iodine loading in the AEL crystals increases, the single iodine molecular properties are evolved to one-dimensional chain structure. The iodine molecular chains are decomposed in high temperature; this was studied by using differential scanning calorimetry and thermograviarty techniques....[
