Paul T. K. Lin’s Hsinhua Photo Collection
This collection of photographs came from the Paul T.K. Lin Papers, donated by his wife, Mrs. Eileen Lin to HKUST Library.
Amongst the photos in his papers were these 443 unique photos, apparently taken by Hsinhua News Agency between 1970 and 1975. The images mainly show China and Chinese people as depicted by Hsinhua in the latter part of the Cultural Revolution, with captions provided by Hsinhua in Chinese and in English on the back.
The original arrangement had only series titles. To make the collection more usable, library staff assigned individual titles to each photograph. The collection is searchable by full text from the Hsinhua captions, the assigned titles, and tags created by humans and machine learning.
