Abstract
A fine detailed map, compiled from surveys and sketches by British officers and other information, it shows China from the Pearl River estuary to the Yellow Sea and Beijing. Detailed annotations describe the local topography, flora, and fauna, as well as internal roads and waterways. Five insets around the map depict the attack on Guangzhou, Beijing, Xiamen, and Zhoushan by British forces in 1841. This map recorded the events which led to the establishment of Hong Kong as a British colonial settlement.
