Abstract
Joan Blaeu's attractive map of China, Japan and Korea was first printed in 1635. This impression was taken from the second French edition, "Le Theatre du Monde, ou, Nouvel Atlas" (1640). It includes a dedication to Theodore Bas, a Director of the Dutch East India Company. This is the first of two maps of China published by Blaeu, later superceded by the Martini map in the "Atlas Sinensis" in 1655.
