Abstract
A groundplan of Fort Zeelandia, originally the Dutch settlement on the Western coast of Taiwan. Shows the strong square-shape inner bastion of the Fort with its four corner towers and the adjacent rectangular walled fortifications. In the early 18th century, on the order of the Chinese Emperor, Jesuits from Europe undertook detailed surveys of all regions of China. These surveys were the basis for this small map, and later, for the maps of Du Halde and DʼAnville.
