Abstract
Static fluid spheres have been studied as a source of exact solutions for the interior metric in general relativistic models of compact stars. By using the coupled Einstein-Maxwell formulation of electromagnetic forces in a general relativistic framework, this work has been extended to charged fluids. Fluids with spherical symmetry, but anisotropic pressure, have also been studied. This thesis extends these results to the case of an anisotropic charged fluid sphere. A class of exact solutions is found that satisfy the necessary physical constraints, and their physical properties are computed.
